Beau Travail 1999
I've seen Lav Diaz films more entertaining than this. The story starts 1 hour in. There's an entire hour consisting of anti-narrative exercise and club flashbacks before the plot actually begins. The film is thematically genius but jeez is it a laborious one to consume.

There’s nothing cinematically astounding or profound, but why bother if depicting historical atrocities suffices to pull the heartstrings of the audience and garner massive accolades.
