  There Will Be Blood 2007

  Amazing acting by Paul Dano and Daniel Day Lewis but the story has been done before and was dragged out to make a point about the tragedy of greed and lust for power. While the conflict between capitalism versus religious faith is a cornerstone of the American identity and certainly interesting to touch upon, the film is too focused on giving time for Lewis to give an incredible performance of a greedy man so the religious aspects are too drowned out which is further proven by the unnecessary long run time.

  You can definitely see the beginning of Nolan’s directing style being developed but it doesn’t reach the heights of his other films. I wish they left the ending a little more ambiguous.
