Gena Rowlands gave the best acting performance I have ever seen. Certainly out of all the films I have seen in my lifetime.
This film broke me by the end.

I hope this doesn’t reveal too about me, but the main character reminded me of my own teenage years when I was awkward, angry with my parents, and introverted to the point where it was hard for me to make friends. Despite the vanilla way in which this story was told, it had great acting and the feel good element of the story definitely hit the spot on a Sunday afternoon.
Alongside Tammy and the T-Rex, Earth Girls are Easy, and My Stepmother is an Alien, I’m not quite sure what subgenre of science-fiction this would be called, but I’m here for more of it. This one is certainly hornier than the others despite its made-for-TV components making it seem more like a family viewing affair. I also love me some girlie 90s films with a pop-rock soundtrack a la Letters to Cleo.
