  the more i think about this movie, the more i want to tear it apart. although certain scenes were nice and i enjoyed it in my own way, it often felt like an individualist, reactionary story larping as feminist and progressive. 

  environmentalism was caricaturized; her misogynistic partner forgiven (thanks to his cancer); and half-baked discourse on menstruation, marriage, and matriliny were supposed to serve as the feminist highlights 

  if you’re looking for a contemporary story about an unsatisfied woman breaking out of the confines of domesticity without seriously challenging any harmful ideologies, then here it is
