Just kidding, being a radical artist is precisely what made this film so poignant for me. Incredible film that has not gotten enough praise. A stunning tribute to these resilient men and to art making as a liberating vehicle for self expression.
One star for Mikey Madison’s performance. Another half star for the others, particularly Vanya and Igor’s actors: Beyond disappointed with this shallow depiction of sex work and hustle culture. Despite being the titular character, Anora is woefully underdeveloped in contrast to the disgusting men around her. When Baker tries to give her some depth in the final moments, it’s hollow. The lack of intimacy coordinator on set also left a sour taste in my mouth. I thought the tonal switch…
