Simple in the most charming way possible, and the perfect springboard for the rest of Baz Luhrmann’s career. Seeing the same approaches to glamour and elegance which define the rest of his filmography be so salient from day one without a proper budget is truly special, and seeing it against this backdrop of Sydney in the 1990s even more so.
