  This ebbs and flows through spells of nothing happening, then something about to happen, then cutting to a poorly sung musical fantasy sequence.

  I committed more to staying awake than they committed to any of the ideas they tried to set up.

  The Batman 2022

  14 years ago, the Dark Knight became a benchmark in film history. It changed the relationship between directors and studios, the Oscar’s opened their criteria for the Best Picture category, and people started accepting that comic book films could be considered a serious art form. Iron Man (2008) takes the plaudits for kickstarting the MCU, but I doubt two of Marvel’s best (Infinity War and Logan) could have existed without that seminal Dark Knight trilogy.
