Fritz the Cat 1972
I grew up reading my dads old underground comics and Fritz was a favorite. Bakshi did a better job than R. Crumb will ever give him credit for, but who cares cause that guys a piece of shit, who also apparently stinks.
Anyway, this movie holds a historic place in animation history, being the first widely released X-Rated animated film. It also launched Bakshi’s career. The documentary recordings made by Bakshi that make up about 90% of the movies dialogue are perfect set dressing for the films ultimate point, and represent something artful but unusual and add necessary grit to the movie.

The Fifth Element 1997
The thing about this movie for me is that I can’t quite get past the nostalgia I feel for it. Intellectually i know that it’s a goofy sci-fi film i would not be as enamored with as i am if i saw it for the first time today. There’s just something about the memories of watching this movie with my father and my sister that means I have to give it 5 stars.
Also, weird fact about this movie, Dallas and Zorg never come face to face. it’s close, but the hero and villain never actually meet.

Wizards 1977
Arguably a top 10 entry for the greatest animated films of all time, a list that Bakshi additionally dominates. A deeply unserious film that anyone who has seen a Bakshi film would instantly recognize as his work. Wizards is a very dumb movie, but fun from start to finish and holds value as a piece of animated art.
