Do the Right Thing 1989
unfortunately a timeless film that still holds so much, if not more, relevance today.
sweltering not just in its summer day setting but in its intense themes and racial tensions. so many amazingly directed and written scenes, the low budget is used to enhance the down-to-earth, true-to-life, personable feel of the film. Lee has so much to say and doesn’t stray away from voicing these strong feelings in many powerful long takes.
this film just gets better with every rewatch.

The epitome of modern Hollywood slop. always skipped this one based on the poster and letterboxd backdrop alone because I thought it was gonna have a completely different vibe to what it did! thankfully I listened to cinemajoe’s praise on his podcast and checked it out and really enjoyed it. way less of the cliche teen romcom than I was expecting, very pleasantly suprised.

rewatching this movie knowing how it ends makes it so much better I have no complaints now. I don’t know how a 140 minute movie feels too short but this does and that’s a huge compliment: every second is perfectly used, every scene is visually beautiful and narratively captivating, every joke had the audience cracking up. this is THE Spider-Man experience- and it’s just the first part..
