The Battle at Lake Changjin 2021
Kinda long, sure. I did appreciate some of the over long scenes though. There’s bits with Mao’s son, the fun of self criticism in a revolutionary army, good stuff that heightens the drama. It’s not subtle, but it should not be. It’s an action movie. And it rocks. Blowing stuff up, lots of extras. Lots of hero’s.

Beyond expectation. I don’t want to seem like I’m just repackaging “auteur theory”, I haven’t read any Truffaut; but Rob Cohen’s filmography is insane. A lot of his movies changed culture in my lifetime; a strange idea to hold in your head.
I also love sentences with a semi-colon; two clauses that are in some way joined together, in an elegant conversational way.

How to Blow Up a Pipeline 2022
The theatre reacted really uncomfortably to a guy who kept laughing hard at the Liberals on screen. To be fair, he was loaded, but it felt cool to watch this movie while also being in the theatre scene from Cape Fear.
