Love Actually 2003
A movie with tons of energy, aiming to tell as many stories as possible consecutively. While I do think the film is somewhat able to nicely tie everything together in the end, most of the subplots end up feeling incomplete in the process. Some of the best stories in this film, I felt, came not from intimate love but from motherly love—a mother protecting her children’s happiness, a father instilling confidence in his mourning son. Those are the moments that make the film good to me; they just aren’t easy to come by.
