Sicario 2015
Denis Villenueve wasn't quite on my radar at this point, I'd only seen Enemy before this. However Roger Deakins is most likely my preferred DoP and his work often influences the director's approach. He really is a maestro at composition and lighting. The soldiers' silhouettes when heading for the tunnel is such a simple concept, and they deliberately timed it with sunset so the coordination is impeccable.
The cast are all brilliant, so watchable. But the crown of its glory…

American Sniper 2014
Bradley Cooper is magnificent in Clint Eastwood's true story of a prolific sniper during the gulf war. The combo of these together may be my favourite of Eastwood's movies, although it's a close call alongside The Unforgiven.
Cooper's presence and character's influence is totally believable, and the action sequences build tremendously well.

In the Name of the Father 1993
DDL probably the finest actor of our generation. Unbelievable performance. Pete Postlethwaite is amazing as well, the music, the moving storyline and oh yeah, it’s a true story. Such a powerful message of corruption and justice. Filmmaking at its finest level.
