Well, I liked this more than Mullholand drive. But IDK if I liked it.
This is a lot of very horny and very angry and very repressed people. And I get it "ahh, suburbia represses people so they become secretly violent or sexually violent, or sexually frustrated, etc." or wtv. I just don't know if this is a very compelling way to say that. Especially when 13 years later American Beauty did it but just better and less Lynchian.

Cabaret 1972
I went in expecting more crossdressing and less critique of class disparity and naziism but I'm so happy with what I got. There is a reason that this is a classic. Liza Minnelli is the heartbeat for this movie. Her manic energy, alongside the wonderful editing, pushes this movie forward.

Dune: Part Two 2024
Somehow, Denis managed to one-up himself. Part 2 is a far more satisfying watch, with a more complete story, character arc for Paul, and some incredible action. Every actor brings their A-game, but I was especially surprised by Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica. She brings an almost horrific unease to any scene she is in and really leans into being a morally ambiguous figure. All in all, a great way to start 2024 and a brilliant day for sci-fi fans.
