Longlegs 2024
I'm all for aesthetics in horror/thrillers but when it takes precedence over the plot, then it's overkill.
Also, when a horror or thriller gravitates towards the cult trope, it seems like an easy cop-out to me.
The story fell flat for me in that way and while I appreciate slow burns, this had me dozing off at some parts. The last quarter of the film is where it really took off. Still, a commendable effort.

Mat Kilau 2022
If you're going to do justice to a historical figure, maybe cut the wacky sound effects and ditch the terrible camera work on the fight scenes (I think my vertigo was triggered). This had so much potential - when I first heard of a Mat Kilau film, I expected Puteri Gunung Ledang standards of production. It would have garnered international reception if done properly too. Such a shame that it ended up looking like a B grade film.
