Thoroughly enjoyed on many levels: great music, great visuals, at points very funny. Interesting to counterpose this with the Ianucci take on powerful people shit-housing it out.

Although as a stand-alone film not one of his best, Parallel Mothers is an interesting moment of Almodóvar explicitly confronting ideas previously treated implicitly. Here Franco, whose shadowy and unseen presence has arguably defined most of his prior films, at last steps out of the shadows and meets the audience's eyeline directly.
