Though I'm 20 years younger than her, I grew up in this area and worked teaching there as a young adult. This film hit really hard as a result. The cycles of poverty, hopelessness and deprivation shown are very much reality for a lot of people in places like Erith, Crayford, Dartford and Bexleyheath, as well as many others. The story seemed all-too-familiar and really packs a punch as a result.
Great performances from all and a story told with empathy and insight.
