That Certain Summer 1972
martin sheen’s portrayal of gary, doug’s partner, was absolutely the strongest part of this movie. the hurt in his face when nick was immediately cold to him; the frustration he expressed towards a patronizing straight man; his longing for doug to be really out, to be less ashamed and willing to show him affection outside. it was real! and he’s so sweet! I wish this was a fully realized feature film and that the other characters were better constructed, because martin sheen is so fantastic and I want more of him in this intimate role.

cutest little elliott gould film. something about the tone and setting make this feel comfortingly new york, like how I perceived manhattan as a child. it's almost sesame streetish despite being a sex comedy.
