  Wikipedia says this was made as a response to High Noon basically being full of girly men. For such a macho movie, its full of lots of pulpy drama, romance and lead roles went to a famous singer and a teen idol at the time. Its also an hour longer than High Noon. Worth checking out, theres a great scene with Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson singing a soulful cowboy duet
