Removed of the lore of Sonic 1 & 2 which I unfortunately haven't had the pleasure of watching, this film plays like a procedurally generated miasma of every kids movie trope, story beat and predictable piece of dialogue. Two Jim Carreys cannot save this. Bonus points for James Marsden realising mid-film that whatever he's being paid isn't worth enthusiastically emoting to a blue tennis ball and playing second fiddle to a red tennis ball.

As a genuine connoisseur of bad films and a card carrying Neil Breen apologist, it really does pain me to give this movie a poor rating. However, this film suffers from Breen's textbook meandering and stretched out, senseless narrative, only this time the bright sparks of joyous lunacy that you would find peppered liberally throughout his senimal works "Fateful Findings" and "Twisted Pair" are unfortunately too few and far between to prop this film up in a satisfying way. Better consumed as a 20 minute best of on YouTube.

Not only is this self-indulgent piece of shit not interesting enough to be so bad it's good, it's so transparent in it's theming so as to be completely ineffective. This plays like a movie built on 40 years of frustration and spite at the film industry, through the lens of an out of touch, self-aggrandising baby. A Neil…

Wow. Fantastic lead and supporting performances underpin some truly exhaustively emotional scenes. I truly admire Sean Baker's ability to show truth through a delicate balance of outlandish situations, raw emotion and biting humour. Slightly hurt by the hype sadly, and just a scooch too long, but fuck me Mikey Madison is good. The 1979s style cinematography captures her incredibly. In a nutshell I would say better than Red Rocket, but not as good as Tangerine.
