Knives Out 2019
This screenplay is unbelievable. The jokes are so witty and still hold up despite being such a product of their time. In any other movie, Ransom would be so one dimensional and flat, but here he is allowed to be intelligent and strategic and genuinely competent. Every rewatch gets better.

A Real Pain 2024
Kieran Culkin is really so singular. Absolutely loved this one for how it didn’t try to be easy in any way. It was so easy to see the flaws in both Benji and David, yet you also just understood them so deeply that you couldn’t help but like and relate to them both. There was this fascinating childlike depth to Benji’s emotions that I can’t stop thinking about.

The Brutalist 2024
I found this film intellectually stimulating. I definitely respect it more than I actually like it. The first half I was so locked in but the second half just went a bit off the rails with the plot, themes, etc. I did appreciate the epilogue but it just didn’t land the plane for me. So impressed by Guy Pearce who did a phenomenal job and was truly on another level.
