The Gorge 2025
Such a fun goofy premise that is throttled by overly-efficient and uninspired filmmaking and writing.
Like, why are the lead’s backstories and past traumas blandly exposited in the first 25 minutes only to barely come up again after the halfway mark?
Why are some of the most important bonding moments between the leads reduced to a montage??
Not to mention the whole final act petering out so pathetically, entirely lost without the tension and mystery of the titular gorge.

Gonna see a lot of reviews leading with ‘flawed but enjoyable’ or ‘messy but still decent’ when the messiness and chaos is what elevates the material. Don’t get me wrong defo has issues with pacing, and we didn’t need all them flashbacks. But for every lacklustre element there’s a dozen phenomenal action beats and filmmaking choices that got me forgetting about how the movie is lowkey too bloated. So many moments that reference and epitomise some of the greatest movies in this genre. Best use of GoPro in a movie, top 5 training montage oat too dfkm
