classic, funny, warm, lovable. tied up in a neat plot-payoff bow at the end.

solid acting debut for sza, she and keke are iconic together. their unique dynamic and the underlying conflict in their relationship is a good reflection of how real friendships can be.

i relate to both characters in different ways which made the viewing experience a little extra personal. i also just love issa rae too.

gonna be a good unserious rewatch in the future.

this one’s cemented as one of my favorite horror movies. 

thorough backstory, a theme that i could ponder forever, the different symbolisms, creative kills, fire soundtrack, good humor every now and then, the plot twist that recontextualizes everything, LUPITA.

loved it the first time in theaters and i love every rewatch. chefs kiss.

Above all, campy enjoyment. Not to be taken tooo seriously. Though character development is normally appreciated, I kinda love how Nomi is unwavering throughout.

Molly did not deserve that. Fucking hell. I wish Nomi got the other 2 guys.

Makeup and costumes are incomparable.

i also feel like the physical “scavenger hunt” type research here is a lost art. of course, our computers guarantee immediate and full answers but i imagine reaching a conclusion after doing all that work is much more rewarding.

serial killing aside, the skincare routine sounds fire. 

the fake-out with the pen is insanely hilarious to me.

i watch this in the same way i’d watch light from death note or joe from you: with no admiration for the main character whatsoever but finding entertainment in seeing how their mind works and how they get away with what they do.

Rewatched this mostly against my will, but I was curious to see what my adult brain would think about this movie I remember enjoying as a kid.

The stakes felt a lot lower than I remember so the hilarity of everything just got amplified. Very unserious with a plot respectable enough to get me through the whole thing. Wouldn't watch again tho.

Simple and emotionally aware. Love practically anything America's in.

It does a great job with portraying the beginning of womanhood, especially one of a plus size woman of color (ofc an experience that I relate to). The banter that the women all have in their underwear is so funny and endearing. Seeing Ana walking through New York at the end was the best payoff there could've been. I don't have to know every detail of her new life to know that its prosperous and I love that.

Soundtrack is amazing btw.
