  The Hunchback of Notre Dame 1996

  Hunchback has some of the most interesting musical work of the Disney Renaissance, especially with the inclusion of catholic hymns and legit pieces from the choral canon, but i have to knock a point for the fucking gargoyles. If every single scene with the gargoyles was cut, the emotional beats, music, and tone of the story would only be more cohesive and straightforward. They serve absolutely nothing. Hence the 4 stars. I will also say, the ending feels optimistically hopeful…
