Conclave 2024
I really liked this film, it is shot superbly. The character work really does make it seem like the most important voting event of all time and importantly feels very believable. I’ve seen reviews saying it’s like gossip girl for the Catholic Church (which is true) but the gravity behind the situation played so well by Ralph Fiennes made this movie way more of an enjoyable and engaging watch. I would recommend seeing this at the cinema, people were laughing and whispering shit like “is he allowed to do that”.

The Holdovers 2023
I watched this on a hot day but this is very much a cold wintery hot chocolate type of film. All characters were fleshed out really well but the viewer is given space to fill in some of the blanks themselves which I really liked. The tone and aesthetic makes this worth watching by itself. Well deserved GG for my boy Paul Giamatti
