folk horror is a much abused genre in Indian cinema so I never thought I’d see such an incredible take on it. mammootty is simply terrifying and brilliant. using the theravad as a sight of unknown horrors was so felicitous, though the third act kind of undercuts the caste commentary (ofc no film is meant to solely comment on socio-political affairs). and ofc so so so terrifyingly beautiful

the elites have run out of things to talk about and this is how they all sound now, bored of the same books and travelling and artists and dry intellectual conversation, they can’t even pretend there’s anything remotely interesting in it. unbelievably terrible film. when tilda swinton’s daughter - who julianne moore exclaims looks just like her! - turned out to be tilda swinton in a brown wig I had to bite my hoodie not to burst out laughing.
