This was definitely yet-another-marvel-origin-story, so it had most of the tropes you're all used to by now. You also get great production values, some cool sci-fi action, and the always amazing Brie Larson. Marvel has done a stellar job with casting their superheroes and this is another top notch match. All that being said...I've been over the formulaic Marvel solo movie format since probably the first Captain America film, so even for as competent and engaging each new Marvel solo film is, there's diminishing returns. Anyhow, I liked it, but wished I would have loved it.

I'm glad the trailer only really used key footage from the first 1/3 or so of the movie since there are some storytelling devices and plot points that could have easily been ruined in trailers. There are a couple nice turns that flip things around on you and the mood is always menacing. The only real downside is there are a couple really intense emotional leaps that are made that push whether or not you can keep suspending disbelief. It worked for me...but just barely. All in all one of the better Netflix original films I've seen in a while.

This was completely...adequate. If you're looking for Wolfenstein in cinematic form, it almost gets there. I had thought/hoped there would be more action to be had but the middle third of the film really drags as you come down from the high of the opening and await the obvious climax. It's also much more a war movie with a bit of zombie than a zombie movie set at wartime. All that said, it was quite well made and genre fans should surely enjoy it.

This was a great little cat & mouse thriller that moved just briskly enough to not slow down and didn't seem to cheat or rely on cliche too much to move from scene to scene. The novel use of the main character's limitations also kept it feeling different enough to stand out. A solid, quick watch.
