A charming old film with the right amount of comedy and dread to make it a lighthearted, fun piece of work. An easy watch for anyone.

La Llorona 2019
Excellent display of suspense. There were no jump scares in this film and yet I was still very tense and filled with dread at various points throughout the film. There’s a scene in the back of an ambulance that does a beautiful job at building up tension. Unfortunately it’s a bit slow at times. On a scale of Dragging to Sprinting I’d say the film averages at a walking pace. Nonetheless I still enjoyed the time invested.

This is a VERY slow-paced film. I was expecting as much but it was slower than that. Not a whole lot of character development. One main character’s trauma gets entirely sidestepped at a time when it would’ve been appropriate to see his journey through the pain. It’s almost as if terrible shit had to happen to him just so he could make it in time to be the side character to Penelope Cruz. That’s my biggest gripe with the film. Other wise it was a decent film but nothing spectacular.
