Godzilla Minus One 2023
Did not expect to cry three times during a Godzilla movie.
This film is a huge indictment of the Japanese government during WWII and the military leadership that put small wins over the lives of their people. This film tells you to live for the future instead of dying for grand ideas and the promise of past greatness.

I watched this a while ago and I'm still on the fence about whether it's even a necessary film.
I get what this movie is trying to do and say about institutional racism. BUT, by centering white pain (as always) within a time period during which the more interesting story should focus on the Indigenous/Native American characters, it just falls flat for me.
