Alien is one of those movies that critically and financially didn't do all that well. It did okay but no one was lining up down the block. That seems absurd now because this film 40 years later sets the bar for sci-fi and horror. In watching this it's easy to understand how Ridley Scott became RIDLEY SCOTT. The use of lighting, the ship, the special effects, probably done on a reasonable budget for the time (11 million dollars) and it…

Understand I wanted to love this. Costner is one of my top 5 favorite actors. And I partially fell in love Westerns due to his previous films in the genre. I could not have had higher expectations because he also hyped this up himself by leaving his high profile TV Series in a blaze of glory to make this Western juggernaut of a film with his own money. This stone cold Arnold classic has so many classic lines and scenes.  The film balances a little action with comedy and heart and brings it all together with near perfect execution.  Schwarzenegger helms the film expertly even poking fun at his own action persona.  Today is the 31st anniversary of this film and I enjoyed it as much as I ever have.  The kids are adorable and the chemistry between them and Schwarzenegger Carrie’s the film.  A classic action comedy that does everything right.  It might not truly be a five star film but nostalgia has made this a favourite of mine.

The Addams Family 2 is everything you could expect from fans of the series.  All the expected characters are present and used well.  The voice acting is very good and the comedy is the exact dark humour that you would want from them.  It’s funny, absurd, cute and a good adventure.  It’s not something that will floor you but it’s probably better than the first one and pays homage to the original content while giving it its own flare.  I was pleasantly surprised and my daughter enjoyed it as well.  A fun family film with a cute message.
