This is a lively, watchable movie that is better than it could be thanks to sparks of director Sam Raimi’s slapstick imagination.
This has some very strong performances, and some witty dialogue, but it becomes a fairly average mystery, spiced up with some political conspiracy. It’s not bad, it’s diverting enough, and Woody Harrelson is fantastic in the lead, but it’s not one of Schrader’s best.

This is a fun, intriguing London-set thriller, stylishly directed, with some great performances.
A dark and powerful thriller, and one of the best John le Carre adaptations yet.
