The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

FINALLY. A purely animated Looney Tunes theatrical movie! The animation is fantastic. It’s silly with a couple laugh out loud moments. Daffy, Porky, and Petunia are having their moment and I’m here for it.

My main gripe with this movie is the same as the one I had with Hundreds of Beaver: front loaded with the bulk of the jokes and falls off around the second act or halfway point, only this fell harder than Hundreds of Beavers. Looney Tunes…

Well shot, good. Cult stuff, love it. Crazy popstar, fun. Edebiri is solid, love her leading and I want to see more of that. Malkovich is believable as a reclusive, global pop icon and plays the character effortlessly.

Probably the best Transformers movie period. Brutal and adult in ways you don’t expect in your average PG “kids film”. I felt like D / Megatron’s turn was a little clunky but I get what they were going for, a change fueled by life shattering betrayal. It’s still easily a 3.5 of out 5, maybe even close to a 4.

I appreciate that when asked how this Transformers movie compared with previous entries, Brian Tyree Henry (Megatron) expressed enthusiasm that…

It felt as clunky as an animatronic at a pizza place. I’m not extremely well-versed in the source material to accurately judge the adaptation was but from what I do know it could have been way better and the character motivations could have Ben much clearer. It did have some neat moments, mainly the Jim Henson Creature Shop effects and set design that brought the game visuals and locations to life was really cool. Teens in the row in front…
