  'Cronenbergs weirdness is often more eccentric than scary'

  Mileage will vary with your tolerance for sexual violence and body horror, though by modern standards this is frankly very tame. The 'message' of the movie, while being technically more applicable than ever, has also struggled with aging, and now feels a little twee.
