The Mechanical Monsters 1941
The quintessential Fleischer Superman short. Gorgeous, lush visuals and incredible cinematography make fantastic use of the Fleischers' "Stereoptical Process". This is Technicolor at its most vibrant and beautiful. The story is simple and engaging, for all ages. The lighting and mood are uniquely Fleischer, evoking noirs and moody pictures like 1944's "Gaslight", but preceding them all. This short contains some iconic visuals, is the best use of the killer robot trope, and has cemented its iconicity by directly inspiring many other works, including Miyazaki's "Castle In the Sky". It is Paramount that you view this Picture.
