as with a lot of Blumhouse movies, i feel like this was trying to tackle too many ideas and themes at once to deliver well on any of them, and comes off pretty hamfisted to boot. i really expected this movie to be more along the lines of "what if HAL was in your house" or "AI security system that gets corrupted, locks you in your own home and kills you for some reason", and i'm really glad it isn't…

i liked getting a look at what life is actually like on a Weyland-Yutani mining colony, extremely bleak and exploitative as it is, but then it just goes off and tries to be the first Alien again for the entire rest of the movie. booo, boring.
why do the synthetic characters always steal the entire show? the dead rat floating in zero g was a close second to Andy, though. speaking of synthetics, who allowed Rook's cgi to be THAT…
