I've wanted to rewatch this one for awhile because I remember enjoying it the first time, and being moved by the ending, but I couldn't quite remember why.

I went in to the first one thinking it was going to be a 'mystery in wartime' kind of thing, While there is a good deal of ethical talk and legal wrangling in courts-martial, and a couple of mysteries to solve, this really seems to be about much more. If I'm understanding…

I love how gorgeous and unabashedly horny this movie is, but still with great style and humor. Everyone is SO beautiful, from the young Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz (I believe this is where and when they first met) and Jordi Molla, with his dark hair and piercing blue eyes, to ANNA GALIENA and STEFANIA SANDRELLI (of I Knew Her Well fame) as the competing mothers. It's just such a hot, sweaty, sexy, horny, funny and weird movie.

A fascinating subject and project (basically three 2-hour movies about the life and career of perhaps the global terrorist).

The early and middle years (Episodes 1 and 2) were by far the most compelling and action-packed, as might be expected. Episode 3 covers the fallout and the internecine squabbling between the different terrorist groups and intelligence agencies, particularly after the collapse of the Soviet Union. While much less action-y in Episode 3, I was still engaged following the political ups…

Watched a few minutes of the middle of this one when I caught it on Criterion Channel 24/7 and I was so intrigued I just started it over and watched it from the beginning.

Interesting primarily for the way it tracks (nonlinearly) the 'redemptive' arc (of sorts) of the main character. After beginning with a literal bang, we watch a completely cold, selfish and self-absorbed man commit some horrible crimes, get away with them for a while, get caught, try…

Watched the first episode. Love the people in this, so I was curious to see/hoping they would add some new spin or take on this. Occasional flashes of humor (Justin Theroux is great as all-time doofus G. Gordon Liddy), but I'm not convinced there's enough here to sustain my interest for an entire series. I've also read and watched a LOT about Watergate over the years so maybe I've just priced myself out of this one. Great cast, though.
