Arrival 2016
With a thought provoking premise and a refreshing take on the relationship between residents and visitors, the film provokes intrigue and compassion. Alas, heavy reliance on tropes (eg. helicopter arriving at night, "you've got 10 minutes to pack your bags" and "put down the phone or we'll shoot") and the mushy ending had me cringing a little.
