Peeping Tom is a film of many layers. On the surface, it is a creepy film about voyeurism and exploitation. However, when you unpeel the layers underneath, you may find that the ugliness does not necessarily come from what's on the screen.

For a film made in 1960, Peeping Tom seems modern. After all, we live in a world where we hide ourselves behind masks of many layers, be it in our daily interactions with people, or social media. In…

I must confess that I am not an overly huge fan of movie biopics. I often find them to be self indulgent, overwritten, and/or maudlin affairs. For every great biopic like “My Left Foot” and “Ed Wood”, you have dozens of poor ones like “Amelia” and “Jobs”. Amadeus belongs in the former group. In fact, I would even argue that it sits alongside Goodfellas as one of the greatest biopics of all time.

Damn, Pumpkinhead is an underrated classic. While a horror film through and through, at its core, it's really a movie about a father grieving for his son, and who will do anything in his power to protect him. Lance Henriksen delivers one of the best performances of his career here, I just wish I saw this earlier, without having seen any of its inferior sequels.

This is a fun little Looney Tunes short. It's not memorable or great, but it made me chuckle mildly a few times. That's about it.

Now that this is on Netflix, I expect to watch it at least a half dozen times before the year is out.

Some stray thoughts about this series so far:

    1. For such a dark subject matter, this series is surprisingly funny
    2. Hoa Xuande is an incredibly dynamic actor and needs more attention
    3. It's ironic that RDJ's character claims to be 1/16 negro
    4. Sandra Oh needs to star as Mrs. Robinson in remake of The Graduate
    5. Is RTJ supposed to be an avatar of Americans during the 70's
    6. Park Chan-wook has yet to make something that I didn't enjoy

That said, I'm only 4 episodes in, so expect me to revise this review. However I recommend it so far.
