the movie is incredibly suffocating thanks to the unflinching sequence shots and the actresses performances are absolutely crazy. but it’s also deeply problematic. I’m torn because i do find the film impressive but at the same time, the way the women are portrayed is so disturbing. I didn’t even think it was possible to depict such things in a movie and it’s really hard to reconcile my appreciation for the film with how uncomfortable and troubling it makes me feel.…
