This was one of the horniest movies I’ve ever seen, and the amount of match cuts between past and present was so ridiculous the only way I could keep track was when Mike Faist looked like ASOS Logan from Gilmore Girls and Zendaya had her f*ck a*s Bob. A classic Wes fare; enjoyable for anyone who enjoys his oeuvre. The script was perhaps doing a little too much with its switchback meta storytelling; the camera in movement perhaps displaying Wes falling too far into his own tropes; and the camera in its overall color palette perhaps a bit too much in its photoshop saturated/vibrancy setting (so much so it appears flat, as though watching a moving Edward Hopper). This lack of depth however does not apply to any of the performances; an all star stellar cast carries this new piece of celestial cinema comfortably above cruising altitude for mediocrity within the stratosphere of film.
