  The most flavoursome comedy I have ever seen.
  For the main storyline, Itami shines his light on a bowl of ramen, from which emerges the shadow of a myriad of experiences which express the intricate and multi-faceted relationships between people and food. Food can embody joy, annoyance, authority, survival, pleasure, eroticism, decay and death, as well as love and birth. This movie is full of clever and memorable scenes that are simply hilarious, each of them in a different way, some are explicit, some suggestive...
  The result is a delightful story capable of justifying its own existence.

  A delightful piece of cinematography, the kind only Wes Anderson can create. He succeeds in moulding an interesting story into a wonderfully well-rounded form. In doing so, he constructs a compelling narrative of love, infused by quirky characters. Seeing this movie makes you smile, in a kind of nostalgic way.
