also a welcome departure from the simplistic 'rich people are idiots and evil' narrative that's gripped culture & filmmaking as of late. and an even more welcome move into 'ostentatious hoarding of wealth and the associated opulent lifestyles have a corrupting moral influence across the board' territory.
beyond the facile condemnations of saltburn as apologia for the rich (how dare the nonrich be painted as anything other than martyrs!) lies a more productive (and progressive) reading of the movie.…
