CODA 2021
I really liked this movie. I liked the blue collar vibe, the exploration of the family’s outsider status in the town where they’ve the whole lives, and the beautiful singing voice of the main character. The emotional expression and intensity added by the use of sign language was a revelation- truly amazing. The performances were really good. I especially enjoyed Troy Kotsur as the down to earth and often hilarious father.

The Great Muppet Caper 1981
An under appreciated entry in the Muppet universe. Some of the best bits are when they break the forth wall and acknowledge that they are making a movie. There’s a great running bit about Kermit and Fozzie being identical twins. There are several scene stealing moments from Janis and a couple good tunes from the Electric Mayhem. That said, most of the musical numbers fall far short of the high bar set by Paul Williams in other classic Muppet vehicles.…

The Power of the Dog 2021
Lots of wide open sky landscapes and very little dialogue. Slow and not that interesting for the first 2/3rds. Does the more interesting last third redeem the film? It just might.
