  A painfully awkward coming of age. This made me feel lucky to grow up the way I did. Watching a young boy try to navigate his emotions in a world where boys don’t cry was so painful. The loneliness was palpable. Very eye opening to a female viewer.

  I love a film that only features one prominent female character. What can you do though, it was a film for the boys, which -as a byproduct- is usually a film for the girls and honestly, it was. I hate to validate the patriarchal formula of marketable films but it is definitely a good date movie (in the archaic heteronormative sense). Boys like violence and strong men and well, girls like Paul Mescal. I’m -mostly- joking of course.
