visually stunning as all ghibli movies tend to be. love the miyazaki strong women. kiriko is a hot lesbian. checked all the boxes for me personally, though i felt some emotional moments could have hit harder. the dub cast is so stacked. robert pattinson is unrecognizable as the heron. beautiful.

i love this film because it is an incredibly raw and disturbing depiction of the confusing and shameful aftermath of being groomed and the lifelong impact that sexual assault has on victims, especially and specifically the impact sexual assault has on a victim's relationship to sex itself. you all love this film because you want a weird zombie fifty shades vamp daddy to goon to. we are not the same.
