Anora 2024
Madison deserved her Oscar. It's as much a comedy, as it is drama (and tragedy, for that matter).
There are some beautiful shots of Anora that reappear at the precise time
So if ever someone earned trophy's for editing, screenplay, and directing, Sean Baker was a good choice. Is it the Best Picture? Perhaps, but I was more blown away by Dune 2 and Civil War (and have yet to see The Brutalist). However Anora does feel like a 70s type film- I kept thinking Klute or The Long Goodbye, at least in tone.Translated from by -
Phantom of Chinatown 1940
Forget it, Wong...it's Chinatown.
A perfect example where casting racially appropriate characters, doesn't always lead to better movies. I miss Karloff's Wong. That sounded less dirty in my head.

Should Married Men Go Home? 1928
Classic silent era Laurel & Hardy short featuring the boys playing golf that eventually becomes the mud fight at Woodstock 99.
Great slapstick, physical comedy by the genius Stan Laurel.Translated from by -
The Clovehitch Killer 2018
It's hard to "like" such an ultimately fatalistic movie but there is genuine tension built up throughout and though the reveal is a bit worn it does work.
The resolution felt flat which would have made this thriller much better.Translated from by
