i enjoyed themes of how overwhelming systemic greed just further causes people to feel weak and insecure, doubting when genuine good things happen to them, shown through most of mickey 17s character. mickey 18 i think is some form of how living in this system also easily fosters rage that wants to revolt, just the system imploding itself from what it creates. they are also just unable to comprehend a species that just does good without anything in return.
