“Why is this old man giving me Johnny Knoxville vibes?” - a real thing I said to myself during this movie.
Fantastic, creative, energetic, elemental, and so so so good.
I’m a little hung up on the ‘Johnny Knoxville’ of it all, though.
If this film were a piece of furniture, it would be a grandfather clock - every piece of it is intentional, everything serves a purpose, everything is lovingly crafted, and a few times an hour it makes a loud fucking noise and something pops out at you for no goddamn reason.
Sparse jump scares aside, this is a modern classic.
"Lowen? Lowen?"
Just about completely unbearable.
The film follows dream logic, so I can't fault it for not being cohesive or narratively satisfying, but at a certain point the film is so devoid of any kind of conflict or consequence that the boredom will kill you.
I'm a ghost btw.
P.S.
The kid is the best actor in the bunch, but crabman was by far the funniest.
"...LOWEN?"
