Breaking Away 1979
This film was a beautiful and touching portrayal of young adulthood with all of its ups and downs. I loved how the movie explored and developed the relationships between family members and friends. The interactions between characters were hilarious in a way that was not overbearing or impeding of bigger themes. Dave's character was very endearing and had the audience really rooting for him, especially by the end of the film. Overall, a sweet, nostalgic, and slow-paced film that leaves you with a warmth in your heart.

Alien: Romulus 2024
Romulus was thrilling, but I felt like it lacked depth and the underlying messages weren't explored enough. As an audience member, I didn't have a good grasp of the characters' true motives and wants throughout the film. This also feels like a film that you need to watch with prior knowledge of the Aliens franchise. Not a great stand alone. Despite this, I thought the acting was great and was still entertained throughout the film. Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson gave standout performances.
