This was far better than expected! Spiritually much more of a sequel to Frankenstein than Bride of Frankenstein— gone is the camp of the sequel, the Monster isn’t drinkin and smokin’ cigars in this one. This is played much more as straight horror, and apart from the great performances the thing that most stood out in this movie are the visuals. The lighting has a phenomenal, film noirish quality to it. The sets in…
Very boring, very forgettable. I spent the majority of the movie confused about the relationships between the characters. Only part is Dracula’s Daughter’s weird goth friend (was this guy a vampire? Or a vampires “familiar”?) who just overall reminded me of Guillermo from What We Do in the Shadows if played by Jermaine Clement.
Pretty good for a movie that’s largely forgotten from the Universal monster cannon. Despite preceding it, this movie is obviously very overshadowed by the far superior The Wolf Man. The main distinction between the two is that Lon Chanel’s Wolf Man is very sympathetic compared to Henry Hull’s Werewolf of London, who is just an asshole. Relatively fun watch though.
Basically got the whole point within the first hour of the movie and felt the rest was a bit superfluous. Probably has the hardest I’ve laughed at a fart joke in a movie in a long time though.
