A bit grim at times but it's a cool concept with interesting dynamics between the characters, including a good representation of autism; for 1997. The acting is often criticised but I think it was fine. It's a low budget movie and its effectiveness comes from how creative you can truly be.

I will rarely give a film 5 stars but watching this again brought me back to all the times I watched this as a child so I found myself completing the dialogue before it happened.
Watch this without thinking about the franchise that will follow and it's so much more enjoyable; although it's hard not to enjoy anyway.
Great fun, tremendous action, solid comedy, fantastic acting whilst held together with an incredible soundtrack.

Was this supposed to be a war film, a romance or a horror? I'm not sure.
Pointless characters, unconvincing acting and lacking substance.
The only redeeming quality about this film was the sometimes interesting cinematography and the pretty landscapes which made it feel more like a period drama.
